Projecting 2014 for BYU and opponents in 6 easy charts

Houston

The Cougars look like another game that will be tough for BYU. The teams will meet in Provo on a short week after the Texas game.

Houston’s overall schedule rank is a bit lower than UCF’s or BYU’s and it’s not hard to see why. Texas-San Antonio and UNLV may be fun teams, but they’re probably not going to be good when compared to Penn State and Missouri.

Boise State

If you worry that BYU has a four game season, it could be worse. Boise State looks like it has a two game season. Outside of BYU and Mississippi, it looks like the toughest games Boise will face are Fresno State (67) and Utah State (62).

The Bronco’s Mountain West schedule saddles them with three games with teams ranking worse than 100: Wyoming, New Mexico, and Air Force.

Utah State

I think the Aggies are a bit underrated here and several other sites project them higher. Utah State has been able to schedule a couple of Power 5 teams, but Tennessee and Wake Forest together project to be an even weaker pair than Virginia and Cal.

Should Utah State knock off Tennessee on the road in week 1, there is a good chance BYU will be getting an undefeated Aggie team in Provo.

It’s a nice visualization, but everything is based on projections at this point. These charts do set a nice sign point of what fans can expect each team’s big games to be. Starting next week, fans can finally watch those projections turn into real games, which will be much more fun for everyone.
