Gameday! Former Cougar walk-on retuns with UNLV to play BYU

It’s expected to be cold and snowy, but with a win today over former conference rival UNLV, BYU can book a trip to the much warmer Miami Beach Bowl. Here’s how the Loyal Cougars see this game playing out:

Adam Mangum

I know some fans are getting nervous about this game. Don’t be. UNLV is bad. Cougars roll 45-14.

Brandon Jones

The Cougar picked a good time to play UNLV. After a bye week, mistakes continue to be fixed and BYU easily gets its fifth win. BYU 45, UNLV 9.

The Cougar defense rebounded nicely against Middle Tennessee and I’ll be watching this game closely to see if they can repeat that performance. It would be quite a cruel fate for Bronco Mendenhall if form BYU walk-on Blake Decker has a repeat of Bronco’s college days. Mendenhall has often told the story of playing for Oregon State because they had BYU on their schedule, beating the Cougars and then lying at midfield wonder what he should do next with his life. Given the large spread and as long as BYU’s defense continues to rebound, I don’t anticipate that happening. BYU 38, UNLV 21.
